No matter where we go, one thing we know for sure is that we will be taking many pictures and videos along the way. And although we don't consider ourselves professional photographers by any means, it is an important part of the blog and Youtube channel so we always want to make sure we have some great gear that still allows us to travel with one bag. Below is a list of some of our favorite camera gear and accessories for use while traveling.
In one of our previous posts we talked about the pros and cons of one bag travel. In that article we talked about how one bag travel can be awesome, but it may not be for everyone. If you read through that article and have decided you want to try it out or if you have had an interest in this style of travel for a while, I put together a video going through the ways in which I will typically pack my bag for a few weeks of travel. In the video I go through the items I pack, how I organize everything and just some tips that I have found very useful throughout the many trips I have now done with just a travel backpack.
Traveling with one bag is something I have fallen in love with. As I have written in previous articles, one of the funnest parts of traveling this way is planning out what you actually want to take on your trip. Having the limited space of a travel backpack really forces you to think through what you will need for your trip and come up with some creative ways to take what you need. One of the hardest things to decide on with limited space (and if you are a shoe aficionado such as myself) is how many shoes you can take without sacrificing the flexibility of multiple styles of shoes and, more importantly which types to bring with you. In this article I talk about the number and types of shoes that I have found to be perfect for the trips that I have taken so far.
We are huge fans of one bag travel and can never imagine going back to traveling with a traditional carry on. However, one of the challenges with one bag travel is that you typically have to pack some sort of additional backpack to use during your day to day when you arrive at your destination as most travel backpacks will be too big or heavy to carry around with you all day. Thankfully, a few companies have taken it upon themselves to try to create a bag that can really fulfill the dreams of anyone looking for a true one bag travel experience. Unfortunately, when you are looking for a bag to satisfy all needs there will always be compromises, but after a great deal of testing these are the bags that we think are doing it best at the moment:
The holidays are upon us and if you are like us, it can be a little stressful to think of gifts that might be cool and useful to get for your friends and family. Below we have created a list of some of our favorite items in a variety of areas such as travel, tech, and EDC to hopefully provide some ideas for what you might want to get.
Learning to travel with one bag has truly improved my overall trip experience and I can't see myself ever going back to traveling with multiple suitcases and bags. I now feel so free when I am on the go and it has become something of an obsession to see how much I can maximize what I can pack into smaller and smaller bags. With that being said, as with everything in life, one bag travel will not be the best option for everyone and even as an evangelist of this type of travel there are times when having when bag can lead to certain inconveniences. Read on to see the pros and cons that I have noticed throughout my travels with one bag.
I have been a big fan of Tortuga's bags for a long time. In the past I have tested out their Outbreaker Travel Backpack and their packable day pack and I have always been impressed with how well designed and comfortable they are able to make their bags. So when I heard about their brand new Tortuga Setout Divide backpack I was super excited as it seemed to provide the perfect mix of space and features to make a great day bag and travel bag (the first real competitor to the Nomatic Travel Pack) while also including the same quality and comfort that I have come to expect from Tortuga's other awesome bags. I have been testing the bag out for the past couple of weeks and so far I have been super impressed with the Setout Divide and I definitely plan to continue to use it for many trips going forward. Read on to see a quick glimpse of the pros and cons I have noticed so far while using the bag and to see our in-depth video review for the Tortuga Setout Divide.
I was really excited when ATailorBird reached out to me to see if I wanted to test out their Laptop Sleeve for 13 in laptops. We both currently use 13 in laptops (Macbook Pro Touchbar and Dell XPS) and we have been wanting to use a few different bags recently that were good overall, but that didn't offer the protection we needed for our devices. In this regard, this laptop sleeve has been a lifesaver! This sleeve seems to not only be high quality and offer great protection, but it also includes some slip pockets in the front zippered pocket that might allow me to simplify the way I carry my accessories on a daily basis. The Nomatic Travel Pack is one of the bags I have been most excited to try out. The original Nomatic travel bag set the bar super high and I have to say that the newest bag did not disappoint. This bag has so many great features and is very unique in that it works very well as both a day bag and a travel backpack that can hold up to a week's worth of clothing. I am slightly obsessed with gadget organization and the concept of having a dedicated tech dopp kit. There are tons of options currently available that are made of all sorts of different materials, different sizes and different price ranges. It can be tricky to find a good quality organizer at a reasonable. Another issue I run into is having to carry multiple packs: one for smaller items (cables), one medium objects (headphones), and one larger objects (camera). I'm all for modular packing but this can get a little cumbersome so I was very excited when ATailorBird reached out to see if I wanted to test out their Electronics Organizer. This item seemed to not only be a good quality and offer really cool compartments to keep everything organized, but it also looked like it would allow be to simplify my carry on a daily basis.
